I just finished The Da Vinci Code. So good, highly recommended to everyone. It really, really was an adventurous book, kept me guessing and reading the whole way through, frantic from start to finish, and I've always been interested in symbolism and hidden meaning, so it appealed to me on many levels. Very interesting. I'm such a fangirl though, I immediately came online looking for fanfiction! A hopeless case, I am.
I cleaned my room today, I had this pile of assorted things at the end of my bed that really needed sorting out so that's all done now, I expect I will do more tidying of the cupboards and things next week. I also attempted to sort some of my videos, I didn't know I had put Primary Colors and Dr Sleep on the same tape! Woot. I must read the book of Primary Colors again, I adore it. I wish they'd stuck to the narrative more for the film, because MT would have been in it so much more and had so many more killer lines, and there woyuld have been less of John Travolta grinning, which always scares me.
So, the Olympics is over. Shame, I always enjoy it. A solitary silver medal means that Britain is not as Great as it makes itself out to be, LOL, but I guess we're not an alpine nation and not to take anything away from Shelley Rudman who won the medal: she had to train for the skeleton bob throwing herself down hills, which is probably nothing like actually doing it.
So, I failed miserably on promising to catch up with my fandom stuff. *slaps herself* Although, my 1205 aqnd 1206 reviews are done on paper now, so all I have to do is tpye them up. And damn, I'm going to sort out some fic. I'm annoyed with myself because I never seem to finish anything these days although
hungrytigerfilm assures me that it is natural that my writing should come in peaks and troughs especially now that I am much busier than I was before. Oh to have a free afternoon contemplating a drabble!
Went to a quiz last night, we came 4th out of 18, pretty good, eh? I like that I know random things, like what an oxymoron is, who was appointed as Republic of Ireland manager (Steve Staunton) and that Riga is the capital of Latvia. My brain is a trivia sponge, LOL.
Speaking of that, one of the questions was: Which sport do the Texas Longhauls play? Apparently, the answer is basketball, but I did a search earlier and could find no info, so if anyone in the US on my flist could enlighten me I would be grateful? I know they're not NBA, god knows Texas have enough representatives already!
On another sporting note, in the week I bought a very cheap copy of NFL 2K5 for PS2 and I finally understand American Football properly! I was always puzzled by the second number in say, 1st and 10. I knew that 1st was the down, but 10 is the amount of yards the offense need to gain to go back to first again and thus have another shot at gaining more yards. Hurrah, a mystery solved!
Right, I'm going to chain myself to my notepad before bed. Adios!
