Yeah, I was actually pretty pleased with our segment given the limitations we had (I thought the other two were kinda crappy though). And even though you didn't get as much airtime as you would have liked, I think your segment looked pretty good, you were more than just the girl w. two boyfriends and you got to discuss polyamory, the fact that you are attracted to ppl other than just gay men, etc.
My girlfriend made an MPEG file and I should have it uploaded to a website pretty soon for download.
I haven't seen the lost wages check I was supposed to receive (which is crucial for my broke unemployed self.) I sent Charles a letter though, we'll see if they bother...
I think all 3 of you did an excellent job patiently dealing with Tyra and the rest of the flock in the audience. I felt many of the questions were rude, and that Tyra Banks is as dumb as a load of bricks.
I saw you three on TV! ;PplanetcrushApril 20 2006, 02:11:43 UTC
I watched the whole show and although I understood why you all chose to be part of the panel, Tyra and her audience just frustrated me & I felt like you 3 maybe shouldn't have bothered. :|
I love how "girlfags" couldn't be said on TV. *snickers*
It's really impressive that three of you were willing to go on Tyra Banks at all. If I had to talk about anything even slightly important to me on a TV show like that, much less my sexual identity, I'd be terrified that what made it on the air wouldn't reflect anything I'd wanted to say at all.
Even though the girlfags segment might not have been perfect, I was surprised at how good a job everyone did at keeping themselves from being misrepresented. I think that segment really will educate a lot of people.
That was why I was willing to take the risk and do it- there is so little mainstream exposure of girlfags and guydykes (tho there was a guydyke character on the L word) that I really wanted to put it out there in the hopes it would help some people. My life changed the day I found this LJ community- suddenly I wasn't alone and I better understood what was going on. So I hope that maybe I reached some people that way.
