Claire Conners. That was the Earth-style name that Kara Zor-El had finally decided upon. It was an homage to both Kal-El and Kon-El respectively, each name taking off the men's first names, coming together to form a name that could never really be connected to either of theirs. Plus, and here was the icing in the cake, it had that cool alliteration factor that almost everyone else's names seemed to have.

Kara Zor-El adjusted her red, cats-eye style geek chic glasses as she walked up the steps to the high school she had enrolled herself in, feeling wildly excited and nervous. It wasn't that she was going to be hanging out with her peer group that had her excited (Kara had hung out with the Teen Titans enough, so its not like she was starved for a peer group) but it was because she would finally get to experience first hand how all of her friends lived their lives out of the costume. In a very real way, she'd get to be one of them, and that meant the world to Kara. After all, high school. It was the biggest part of quintessential American childhood.

Pushing open the doors to the school and walking in, Kara smiled at some girls who seemed to give her a bit of a catty look right back. Her smile didn't falter, though. Kara herself might have faltered, but Claire Conners wasn't built that way. She pushed on ahead, running a quick hand through the hair of her short brown bob-styled wig as she headed for the school's main office to get her schedule. She took in the sights and sounds of the school though and quickly noticed that maybe things here weren't that different from Krypton when it came to teenagers. They seemed to travel in cliques, and she noted a bunch of girls giving another girl a verbal dressing down. She caught snatches of conversation - conversation about sex, drugs, and even Cocoa Puffs - and she shuddered,

Did she really want to put herself through all of this? Especially when she could just be a superhero for the rest of her life and not really worry about anything else?

To her surprise, the answer was yes. It was a pity that the answer would change by the end of the school day.
