Okay, let’s see how far I can get into this episode before Child Interruptus hits again. ;-)

I had to rewind parts of the conversation here at the beginning between Christopher and Lorelai. And now that Pooh has loaned me her DVDs, enabling me to watch them with subtitles, I’m picking up details I would’ve missed earlier.

For starters, though, the subtitles are HORRIBLE. WTH is wrong with them? Did they go off of an actual script instead of paying attention to what the actors actually ended up saying? It’s so annoying! Like, at the final scene of the last episode when Lorelai says something about how the tiniest feather could knock her into the gutter, the subtitles say that the tiniest feather could knock her out. Trivial, I know, but this is annoying!

However I do have to give the DVD producers props for not giving me a bazillion commercials and a long lead-in to reach the menu. I hate that. This way when my DVD turned itself off earlier, I can quickly get back to where I was without wading through a bazillion commercials. Yay!

Anyway, back to the show -

Christopher said something interesting here. He wants to be in Rory’s life more so she can have “another pal.” Not another parent. Not a dad. “Another pal.” Very interesting.

I’m trying to get a feel for what’s going on between Lorelai and Christopher. She seems to resent him. Is it because he’s not been around much for Rory? She’s being very nice to him about letting him Rory’s life, all things considered. I mean, not that it would be good for her to prevent him from seeing her, of course, but still!

Okay, I’m just LOVING, LOVING Kirk’s razzing Dean and Luke. Luke looks like he’s about to kick Kirk’s ass. ….and Kirk just did a runner. Bwahahahaha!!!

Okay, Dean has a motorcycle? He told Lorelai he didn’t. *peers suspiciously at Dean*

Okay, Sookie and Michel - I love the way they started out laughing together, and when Lorelai pointed it out, they’re now at each other’s throats.

Watching Sookie prepare food makes me hungry. And I just ate dinner. Does that make me a pig?

Okay, hang on - rewinding… Did she just say they haven’t heard from him since xmas? No, no - she said they haven’t seen him since Xmas, but they hear from him maybe once a week. Alright, that’s honestly not that bad for him living on the other side of the country.

She’s got a double chocolate biscotti out. I want a double chocolate biscotti.

Al’s Pancakes doesn’t actually sell any pancakes? LOL! A salute to Paraguay. *snicker*

Okay, if Christopher saw Rory and Lorelai at Christmas, how is it that he’s never seen Stars Hollow?

I love how Miss Patty does two things immediately upon meeting Christopher: 1) Flirts with him; 2) Spreads the word. And I see Taylor’s on his phone immediately, too, LOL!

GREG KINNEAR. THAT is who Christopher reminds me of. YAY!!! Josh helped me out on that. Although I see Jackson thinks he looks George Clooney-ish. *snicker* The Townies are hilarious in this scene. I love, love, love how they are checking him out, LOL!

Ooooh, dear. Christopher’s card has been rejected. That is NOT a good thing to happen in this town. Now it’s going to be all over town immediately.

LMAO at Jackson holding court and telling everyone about Christopher’s money nose.

Okay, this conversation between Luke and Lorelai about Christopher impregnating her with Rory is awesome.

Wow. They’re breaking the rule about cell phones at Luke’s. Is Luke going to have a cow?

And Emily wants them all together on Friday. Isn’t she painting on Friday? Or did that already take place?

This was interesting. Lorelai used keys to get into her parents’ house instead of knocking. Why? And nice of Emily to make them feel welcome after Lorelai uses it?

Emily and Richard are certainly nice to Christopher considering he knocked up their daughter.

Richard is a Chuck Berry man. Hehe. I love him. I did a concert with him and I just loved him. He may be the only celebrity who didn’t disappoint me. I’ve got great stories about that concert.

Interesting - Rory doesn’t even know her other grandparents. “What do I even call them?”

Wow, are they uptight. Obviously not able to take a joke. Rory curtsied! *snicker*

It’s interesting how the room is laid out. Anal old people on one side, nervous youngsters on the other.

I love how Lorelai just bursts out with an anti-Bush rant in the middle of this. That definitely took the stress off of Rory, LOL! (I love Bush, btw, just be forewarned. ;-) ) I love, love, love that rant, about his tiny face though - LOL!!!

Wow. Straub is an ASS. It’s interesting that even Emily and Richard are unhappy with his behavior.

Okay, Helena came in during the middle of this fight and I’ve had to shove her out. It is really hard to watch this show on TV! One of these days I’ll have to invest in another DVD player so I can watch it in the bedroom and away

WOW. I am VERY impressed with Richard. He completely blew up at Straub and specifically yells at him for how he is treating Lorelai. GOOD for him.

This is a very interesting conversation between Richard and Lorelai. And you know, he’s right. It does matter why he did it. It’d be nice if he was able to say that he did it because he loved her.

Interesting, “Do you think I love the boy who got my girl pregnant?” So do they like him better now?

I’m worried, btw, about Richard being this emotional when he’s got heart problems.

Another interesting conversation between Emily and Lorelai. “You, young lady, your person and your existence have never been on that list [of disappointments].” I could forgive Emily a lot for taking the time to sit down with Rory and make that clear.

Poor Lorelai. She’s sitting out on the balcony crying. I can appreciate the fact that Christopher is making a point of cheering her up.

Why didn’t Christopher go to Princeton anyway? If Lorelai was raising Rory on her own, what stopped him?

OOOH!! It WAS the night she was supposed to paint with Luke. And she stood him up! Oh, god, I feel so sad for him! Awww! And Lorelai’s making out with Christopher at that moment! *sigh* Ooookay. That is NOT just a make-out session. That was not smart.

And Christopher’s apologizing for it. Um, it takes two to tango. As Lorelai observed.

And Rory’s figuring out quickly that something went on there. “Ahhhh!”

Seriously, is he calling her Laura? Or Lori?

I’m glad to see Lorelai is trying to have a good conversation with Rory, similar to the one Emily had. In some ways, I think it may have helped more to hear it from Emily. Rory already knows her mom loves her unconditionally.

….And Lorelai just remembered the painting date.

She’s there in her PJs!

And Luke knows it was because of Christopher.

MY MOTHER KEEPS CALLING and interrupting me watching this episode. This is the second call I’ve gotten from her and I’m ready to shoot myself. I have to answer the phone call each time because my screen is not working on my phone (stupid deductible demanding insurance company) and I don’t know who it is. Since Ethan’s not home, I can’t risk missing an important call. Grrr…

Lorelai is totally having a melt-down. She’s describing the melt-down her father had, but it’s her. She’s a mess.

And in the middle of all that Christopher proposes. Wow.

And this is a very interesting argument about maturity based on Offspring vs. Metallica.

“That’s very Fiddler on the Roof of you.” Nice reference!

Interesting that they’re talking about the conversation that took place “at the table last night.” They never made it to the dinner table.

Christopher really does believe that he’s in love with Lorelai, doesn’t he? But he’s in love with the idea of that family, I think, more than with Lorelai personally.

Man, he really does remind me of Greg Kinnear.

“He wanted you to marry him, didn’t he?” Rory is definitely not stupid. What a hard conversation between Rory and Lorelai here. Rory really is stretching trying to find some proof of her dad being different.

Aww, and Lorelai pulled an all-nighter painting Luke’s diner? Wow. I can’t actually tell a difference, though… maybe it’s a bit brighter of a shade? I thought she was doing orange trim? Man is she punchy after staying up all night. “Manly curtains!” “Oxymoron.” “What’d you call me?” *snicker*

Great episode!
