Do y'all like reading WIPs? I've been rec'ing fics over at Know-It-Alls for awhile now and I've found that since that time I tend to avoid WIPs, because I hate recommending a fic that I can't be sure will ever be completed, or completed well. So I'm curious as to what y'alls reading habits are. Do you read fics that are still in progress? Do you only read fics that are updated frequently? Will you ever read a fic that is abandoned?
I've been reading some particularly great WIPs by
scifichick774. She has numerous
completed fics in several fandoms (Angel/BtVS, Anita Blake, Blood Ties, CSI, Firefly, Harry Potter Crossovers, Heroes, JAG, Merry Gentry, Smallville, Southern Vampire Series, Special Unit 2, Stargate: SG-1, Witchblade, The X-Files, and many crossovers) as well as a lot of extremely fun crack-fics in the Harry Potter fandom. I love the fact that her fics are so very well written with such delightful plots. She focuses on Hermione and puts her in almost any het pairing, but does it with such wry humor that you enjoy it thoroughly. She writes great characterizations, intriguing plots (Egyptian mythology! Potions and spells gone wrong [or excessively right]! War-time, post-war, and pre-war fics!) and is just overall a wonderful tongue-in-cheek writer. Take a look at her fics when you need a grin!
And speaking of grin-worthy fics, the SSHG exchange has produced a funny crack-fic that involves vampire-flying-bunnies:
Breeding Season. I was very much reminded of Bunnicula. This is another of those fics that is just designed to make you giggle.
