A random post...

...for my not so random love for SMAP.

I have kind of been throwing up praise for SMAP over the past few days, so I decided to share that here. I tried to compile this so that there is one video representing every SMAP song I love. Maybe one will resonate with you? :)

"Aoi Inazuma" (1996)
I already love this song immensely, but there is something kinetic and sexy about this performance of it that puts it over the top. Perhaps its the revealing open jackets and the windblown hair of the mid-nineties, I dunno, but I love it. *_*

"SHAKE" (1996)
Pretty bummed that I could only find this performance from the 2008 concert tour during their encore because you can't see the awesome dancing. However, the children on stage kind of make up for it. *giggle* I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this song. It makes me want to jump up and down every time I hear it. ♥!!

"Dynamite" (1997)
This song was originally released in 1996, but this performance is from 2004 on SMAPxSMAP. It really shows how innovative SMAP is and can be with their classic songs like this one - taking a total jumping pop song and putting it to shamisen with the Yoshida Brothers. Too cool. *_* (Also, because I love the PV for this, have it here)

"Celery" (1997)
A boring PV, but an adorable song. ;) I dunno, the fact that they are singing about celery (sort of) and the "ganbaru" theme are what make this one for me. ♥

"Yozora no Mukou" (1998)
I love the normalcy of this PV, SMAP going about their lives in Tokyo. But more than that, I love the song obviously. Another nice and classic one from them. Great lyrics from Suga Shikao. :)

"Lionheart" (2001)
The performance is almost ten years later after they initially released the song, but it's still gorgeous and SMAP gives it a more quiet feel than the original (which you can find here)

"Stay" (2006)
Again, not the best performance of this song - my favorite is the performance they did of it on Utaban, but I can't find that - but this will do since it's from the 2006 concert tour. It's an album track and probably not a well-known one, but it is totally my favorite SMAP song of all time. ♥

"Kono Toki, Kitto Yume Janai" (2008)
Not the best performance of this song, but it's definitely pretty because I love the actual "stage". As for this song, I love it kind of a lot. Like every time I hear it after a long time, I like squeal. There's something simply powerful and uplifting about the lyrics that gets to me. :)

"This is Love" (2010)
This is a super cute SMAPxSMAP performance of this song that draws off a neat segment SMAP did, reenacting "true" love stories they had received from viewers. I love the colors and how playful everyone is. :)

"Style" (2008; Kimura solo)
My favorite Kimura solo hands down and my favorite performance of his ever from the 2008 SMAP concert tour. I have the chorus of this song as one of my phone's ringtones. XD Again, great lyrics about strutting your style that is unique to you and having fun while you do it. ♥ Kimura is the embodiment that philosophy. :)

"Memory ~June~" (2010; Nakai Solo)
I've linked to this performance on The Music Hour before, but I'm going to link to it again because I love it. Nakai's solos are always hit or miss (and really enhanced by the dance breaks), but this is a solo that stands on its own. He wrote it for Michael Jackson you guys. A year after Michael Jackson died. HOW AMAZING IS THAT? *wibble*

Okay. That's all for tonight. XD
