The thing with the corpses is that Dean's expression and the shape of their faces made me think of the way Dean had that flashback when he stared at the masks in 4x07 last year. It struck me as being rather reminiscent. With all the other deliberate callbacks to S4 in the ep, I could see that being one of them.

It seems they always seem to have deep convos before they get into the car although it must make an awkward ride for awhile.

Ha! Though I liked that this time instead of having an honest heart to heart, we had Dean putting a kibosh on things before they even really got started. I prefer it when things are shown to me and not told, which has been my biggest issue with the Impala side confessions for the past season and a half.

And yeah, agreed on the gloves and the patient kissing. Though you know, I was once kissed smack on the lips by a mentally disturbed woman. She caught me offguard and I had no idea that she was going to do that. If Sam and Dean were perhaps already being a bit influenced, I could see her doing the same. I had more of an issue with Sam semi-seriously telling Dean that he couldn't tap that than the kiss itself.

I think I'm going to have to take a look at all of the scenes again. *g*

4x07 was the Halloween ep from last year, unless I'm getting my numbers mixed up. Pretty sure that's right though. It's The Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester? Anyway, they go to a high school and there are these masks that the kids have made hanging up on the ceiling. Bloody and kinda disturbing looking. Dean glances at the and then gets sucked in, staring at them until Sam snaps him out of it by calling his name (repeatedly, I think) and asking if it brings back memories. It was pretty heavily implied that Dean was having a Hell flashback there, which makes the imagery of dismembered heads up on a ceiling somewhere to be a bit more gruesome than it was originally.

Dean acknowledging his responsibility and the fact that he feels the need to save every one of us was heartbreaking. He sounded so tired. I agree that Sam's desire to talk about things is healthier than Dean's repression, but boy oh boy, does the man have bad timing! Plus I'm still holding out hope that we'll get some acknowledgment of why Dean might be particularly wary of opening up to Sam after last year.
