The Perfect Song
Such a dilemma I face…
I am a lover of music, ALL music to be specific. I am on a never-ending quest to find new music to fall in love with.
This morning on one of the fan sites for an actor that I check out I see they are doing something called the Christmas Project. They are asking fans of this said actor to pick one song to recommend that he should give a listen to. Now, this actor is a lover of music as well.
I have never been able to pick one all time favorite song and to decide on just one song for him to possibly have a listen to is hard. Since he is a fellow music lover, what if he has all ready listened to the song? What if he didn’t like it? Should I focus on a song that would fit in with the type of music he mostly listens to? Who does he listen to? Well, he is a big fan of Van Morrison and Kings of Leon. He mostly listens to bluesy types of music.
Should I say screw his taste in general and just pick a song that I truly adore and just recommend it to him so he could possibly enjoy it as much as I? Whoa is me.
I like too many songs and I really have quite a library of music and really no idea what to recommend. I know I would like to recommend a song that, although highly unlikely, he has not heard before. Just so he can be introduced to something new.
My favorite band of all time? The Foo Fighters hands down. Has he heard of them? Well, if he hasn’t he has been living in a musical black hole in my opinion! I mean they have a lot of music to go through to suggest and yet I have no idea where to begin should I go that route.
Should I go classical? Or just instrumental? Grant Wilson, aka from his role in the show Ghost Hunters, has some beautiful music of his own. He plays the piano and has created a nice collection of songs. He isn’t widely known for his music so it would be nice to share something that isn’t widely spread out, like a new discovery.
Should I recommend a song from a score from a film I love? Should I just pick a popular song? Do I recommend one of my current favorites? Should I go the holiday route? Should I go the covers route?
There really is so many choices that it is very hard to choose just one.
I have just come across a holiday song by The Monkees that I really think would be nice to share. The song is called Riu Chiu. Unless you are a big fan of The Monkees I am not sure you would know of this song. It’s one of those songs you come across when you are looking for more music from a particular artist. It is a nice treasure. Through out my confusion I have found my song to recommend!
