Librarians Gone Wild

Aug 20, 2008 14:03

Well, perhaps not quite that bad, but it was fun at my mom's retirement party.
Quite a few current staff were there, most of her Ladies group was part of the planning committee.  3-4 former employees came for it, one of the Ladies son came (he is about 19 now and a sweetie), and even one patron came in to wish Mother well.
My uncle finally got to meet his "long lost brother" who was a guy that had been the security guard for many years.  Spitting image.  Plus they both had black shirts on.
Loads of food, including a 3-D dragon cake.  That one of the librarian's kids deemed "Tastes just like dragon".  Errr, right.

In honor of Mom, they had a "precision" library cart drill team.  And then the end piece that they did instead of the roast.  About 8 of the librarians (ranging from late 30's to mid-60's) did a rap of my mother's accomplishments and highlights of her time there.  You have not lived until you have dealt with the literary rappers.

Plus it was fun to see all these friends of Mom's and hear stories from their points of view.  Including some that Mother hadn't told.
