This post is brought to you by the letter A and the number 10.
Here's how it works:
Comment on this entry that you'd like to play, and I will give you a letter. Write ten words beginning with that letter in your journal, including an explanation what the word means to you and why, and then pass out letters to those who want to play along.
I got an A! (according to
hellziggy). I decided to start with my Interest list...
1. A is for Art Museums.
My first visit to an art museum was the Vétheuil expedition at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts with Gunthar. You gotta start with the best, and it was... I can't really describe what it was like. : ) I've got a t-shirt, poster, and 2 rectangular pins of
Vétheuil en été (1879), the most important piece of the collection.
We ended up visiting the Chicago Institute of Arts on our honeymoon. Yes, you can overdose on art. It takes about 4 hours. : )
2. A is for Autumn.
My favorite season. Gentle temperatures, beautiful leaves, cool enough for baking cookies and bread, and crisp nights just right for snuggling. Our wedding anniversary: September. My birthday: October. Gunthar's birthday: November. I'll call that enough.
3. A is for Absurdity.
People and situations can get so stressful, I need the time to break out laughing, and get the relief of letting out steam. Hearing my friends crack up is one of my favorite things.
4. A is for Abstract.
If you look at my interest list, you'll see Needlework Design. I'm working on a few abstract designs, and they just seem to fit me. Drawing or figuring out how to create an actual "scene?" Not on your life. I like sitting and working in a drawing pad on AppleWorks. I have no idea how many of them I'll actually stitch.
Plus, being literal all the time is exhausting. : )
5. A is for the Alphabet.
If anyone hasn't been paying attention, I'm a word wierdo. I have this compulsion to make sure everything is spelled correctly, and I've avoided reading specific newspapers if they can't manage to do it right.
Having a stroke and relearning 40 years of English has made language, only second to Gunthar, the most important thing in my life.
6. A is for Adamant.
I think most people have noticed that I'm just a bit stubborn. Do I say more? : )
7. A is for Apple.
I started working on computers in 1981, so of course it was an Apple. I have to work with PCs-- and I know how to, thankyouverymuch!-- and I'll put up with them, but I love my G5, my sturdy G3, my little chicklet of a laptop, my Mini iPod... : )
8. A is for Affection.
Love is very important to me. I grew up in a very cold household, so I made an effort to not be a product of my environment. When I go up and hug someone at the store, Gunthar just assumes it's someone I know. : ) Expressions of love-- hugs, kisses, listening, just being there-- are what support me and keep me going.
9. A is for Attached.
This stands for my Gunthar. I waited for him for 35 years, and it was lucky for me he was waiting, too. I wouldn't have gotten through the last couple of years without him. Loves my Pook, I do. : )
10. A is for Acceptance.
Finding peace in my life was calming myself down. I'm still stressing myself occasionally, figuring out what I'll have to settle for and what I can make better, but my eternal goal is to be able to live with myself. Life-long pursuit, of course.
