Trillanes, Lim, Guingona boarded onto PNP bus I want to go all meta about this but, gah. This thing happens so often in this country that its so hard for me, a journalist, not to be desensitized. Here, the fight is not between democrats and republicans, liberals and conservatives, but between basically one group of thugs and another. You live in the Philippines? Guess what? You get to choose to be ruled either by a corrupt president with corrupt relatives and friends, or a group of trigger happy ex-soldiers with Messianic complexes who think their way is the only way. Waiting in the wings, of course, are the Communists behind the longest-running Communist insurgency in the history of the world.
One of the biggest ironies for me is this: Earlier this day, before this "incident" started, the government reported that the economy has expanded 7.1 percent in the first nine months of the year. *blank stares* That's a shade shy of phenomenal considering the United States grows at a rate approximately 3 percent while Japan struggles with an economy that grows just around 1 percent.
Just when things are looking up for this sad, oppressed country, this ^ happens.
But hey, let's not get too sad. This is my country too:
