If Ohno-san had not been a part of Arashi...

Jan 22, 2009 21:16

... what would he had become ? AU gives us their own idea of Ohno's alter ego.

Anyway, big title, big deal... and probably poor translation >_<

So, this was my first try at translating something, so please be lenient . I was not even JLPT 4 and my native language is not English... ^_^;

Did you read the japanese text on the AU website ?
If not, I just added it in a new post (more convenient like this). I asked a few people to check the accuracy of this translation, so as you're studying japanese, maybe you could tell me what you feel about my translation choices (especially about his mother part). It bothers me a little ^_^;
m(_ _)m
By the way, I'm really curious, when I saw your nickname, I thought I've already seen it somewhere else... Do you work on translations, subbing, or things like that ?
See you ^_^

im still not really good at japanese yet, and honestly i didnt understand some parts, but i guess i can try checking it. ^_^

for the parts that i understood, your translation should mostly be correct. :D it just depends on the choice of words, which may differ for different people.

regarding the part about the old woman, "見て見ぬふりというのができない性格だからしょうがない。", i would translate it as "to pretend i didnt see it is something my personality wont allow, so it cant helped".

also, i got confused at this part: "でも、その前に手を振らなきゃ。いつも、子どものころにそうやった。"
i thought it meant "but, before that, i/she didnt wave my/her hand. ive always done that since i was a kid." but then that didnt make alot of sense.... haha :X

uwaaa i dont think i was of much help ^_^;;

by the way, i dont do translations/subbing, haha. not of standard yet :( but i did a couple of scans/fanart, maybe thats why u find it familiar? :)

Thanks for reading the original text ♥

For your 1st comment, I agree with your translation. I thought what I wrote was pretty similar in meaning, but just tell me if you think it would be clearer to use your suggestion and I'll edit my post.

For your second comment, I'd like to explain : "振らなきゃ" is a shorter slang version of "振らなければ" which is a past conditional form. It's formed with "振らない present neg + ければ". That's why I introduced the sentence by "if she doesn't".
I chose "she" as a subject and not "I", because after this sentence, he explains how important it was to him that his mother waved at him during open school days.

By the way, it might be because of your fanart that I know your nickname ^_^
And, would you mind if I added you as friend ?
I'm currently posting some other translations, but I friend-lock them first, so I'd be happy if you could read them and give me your opinion.

Thanks again ♥

-> About the translation :
I'm currently editing it, because Hontowa has agreed to read the whole translation, and corrected both my Japanese translation and also my English phrasing. She's really impressive <3

-> I always ask before adding people to my friends list for 2 reasons :
- I wouldn't like to be added without warning, and I want people to feel free to add me back or not ^_^
- I can show a not-so-nice personality (whining, angry, obsessed...) in my friend-locked posts, and right now, I'm completely obsessed by Ohno-san, so... well, I prefer to say so before you discover it by yourself xD

-> So I'm gonna practice reading your Japanese entries ^_^

Well, you can call me Ginger from my LJ name.

Ginger
