I haven't checked when my last post was, but supposedly 36 weeks ago by one indication. All I know is that it feels like FOREVER!
China blocked LJ at some point and I was having a hard time with proxy servers, so I just gave up. Now, I'm no longer in China, I can start up again, with random thoughts of past experiences (as that's how I will remember them while posting) and new experiences probably sounding just as random.
Funny, one friend reminded me to visit here again, saying I have some fans missing me... I wonder if she's one of them? But I was warmed to see a comment post by bookfoole from whom I missed reading book stories. And I'm sure there are others as well, I will have to go look through them. I'm glad to know I was missed.
So I'm now in Southport, a suburb on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia. It's not a s "nice" as people said, nor is it as beautiful here as I expected by the tourist websites. I have much to explore, as I've only seen the Gold Coast highway, Surfers Paradise, Burleigh heads beach, and a house perched up on a hill/mountain looking over Nerang with Surfer's far off into the distance.
I've been back and forth to Brisbane. A place I feel far more comfortable, by comparison... It's a pretty city as far as those go. There are just too many damn strip malls here - it's a strip mall developers heaven!!
I'm looking into attending a school of hairdressing. The costs of that are very high, but I would be certified and trained in two years, and ready to go forth and do wonders to the hair of the world. An apprenticeship would be far better for me, as I have years of customer service, sales, marketing, and management experience, and going to this school will be about 10k in lessons for just that, in addition to many months of study in the same.
I hate redundancy! I'm bad enough at doing it myself, so of course I'm tortured by it!
Finding an apprenticeship is preferred, as I have salon experience, and that background for the other stuff. I even have a talent in haircoloring and cutting (or so say those who've sat under me) but need to be trained properly. I'm good at being trained ;-) I'm a fast learner, and a perfectionist, so I pay close attention and don't hang onto bad habits. But getting work as an apprentice in a place (like San Fran) is hard when I'm so far away (in Australia)!
So that's the briefest update I can post. It's where my mind is right now. It will interesting to go back and read this months from now... hehe...
