the newest BBC press pack about Spooks series 5, and I'm all squeeing since then!!! Still not exact airing date but they say September 2006.
I've read the whole press release: it has a description of the first two episodes that are a two -parts series beginning and interviews with every member of the cast.
As I don't mind reading plots and spoilers... in fact, I need to know ;) I couldn't stop myself from not checking all the sections of it.
The plot from the first two episodes sound interesting, and the way they introduce Ros (Hermione Norris) sounds good. I imagine that when they say that Adam is the one bringing her to the grid it may be because of the case they're working on in the first two episodes, but could also be because he was in MI-6 before... maybe he knew her by name or something, we'll see.
For what they say, Harry got unscathed from the end of series 4. Adam however (for what Rupert says in his interview) had surgery and all to cure his injury. I'm a bit confussed because he was injured in the back and for what it says the surgery and all is in his chest... I wonder what they'll say the damage was and all... I just hope they don't do the 'almost dying' one moment, 'superhero totally healthy again' the next...
It was interesting to read how Adam is still dealing with the pain for Fiona's death, plus the fact of getting injured and all the things going on in the new case, isn't in his best moment... so it seems we'll see how he deals with things, hiding his real state to Harry and his relationship with newcomer Ros.
Harry has some interesting moments for what Peter Firth says. It seems that finally Harry/Ruth followers get what they wanted... However for the news I've read, that won't last since Nicola Walker is leaving the show in this series.... It really is a pity because I love Ruth as character. It's one of the most interesting and not neglected, but not explored in her interaction with the rest as they should.
I don't really mind Harry/Ruth stuff... in fact is all there. It was funny to read that in fact the attraction, the devotion and things unfinished and unsaid between them were something that just appeared there as the actors played the characters... If it's true it's kind of amazing because the hints are there, or at least I saw them too.
However, when Adam was introduced in series 3, I also saw an interested chemistry, not love, but some interaction that I would have loved was explored. But I'm fine with the way they developed the relationship between them, although I'd love to read more fics featuring Adam and Ruth (I wish I had enough inspiration and time to write them myself :P)
The interviews with Hermione Norris offers more info about the new character. It sounds like a good character, great to create tension, but I just hope that doesn't mean less screen time for Adam or Harry because they're my favorite and I won't like it to turn into Ros' show.
The actors playing Zaf and Jo are also interviewed but theirs don't offer too much info.
From the interviews I get that the first episodes are great, that five is Harry/Ruth and in three Jo has some fighting scene.
I really can't wait to watch the new series. I think I'll rewatch a bit just to have it fresh and getting on the mood (although this isn't absolutely necessary. I'm already desperately waiting!!!)
Hope that when they say September, they don't mean Sept. 30!! :/
