About the time I found out I was pregnant with Smallspawn, my husband's health had deteriorated to the point where he had to drop out of his student teaching before he got kicked out.  His meds had him too dopey to drive, much less handle children and he just couldn't cope.  Nor could he do anything more physical, since he was having chronic pain ( Read more... )

It takes so long and so much work for someone with a legitimate claim to get disability, it really makes me wonder how people manage to get it fraudulently.

And thanks. Hopefully the settlement will be enough to take some of the financial pressure off.

It's a big relief. With the economy like it is, I'm always feeling like we're living in a house of cards. It will be reassuring to have another income, no matter how small, that isn't tied to my job.

I haven't crunched the numbers, but I suspect if you added up everything I'm paying for insurance, copays, deductibles, etc, it would be more than what I pay for rent in a year. Any help is welcome on that front.
