Finally! The system moves slowly, but it does, indeed, move!

About the time I found out I was pregnant with Smallspawn, my husband's health had deteriorated to the point where he had to drop out of his student teaching before he got kicked out.  His meds had him too dopey to drive, much less handle children and he just couldn't cope.  Nor could he do anything more physical, since he was having chronic pain and any repetitive motion would hurt to badly to continue just after a few minutes.

Holy Crap!  Married less than six months, pregnant, staring at scary medical bills trying to get him into working shape if possible, we filed for Disability.  Feb 10, 2006.  A few weeks ago he finally had his hearing.  Last week he had the first of two doctor's exams paid for by the state.

Well, today he got his letter giving the judge's decision.  He won the case!  There was so much padding in the form letter he wasn't sure what it meant.  Called his lawyers office while I was reading it.  First thing out of the secretary's mouth was "congratulations!"  LOL.  So he won't even have to go to that second appointment.  Yay!  Tacked near the end of the judge's decision was mention that he'll be up for a review in 24 months in case his condition improves.  I doubt it will.

How much he gets will be determined at a later meeting with the social security people.  He's supposed to bring both kids.  However much it is, this means he'll be Medicare eligible -- and damn do we need it!  And they will owe him back pay from Feb. 10, 2006.  I've been busting my ass just to tread water and sinking slowly due to his medical bills and the Largespawn who has Juvenile Rheumatoid (Idiopathic) Arthritis.
