Day Fifteen

16 - Summaries - Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?

Day Sixteen

17 - Titles - Are they the bane of your existence, or the easiest part of the fic? Also, if you do chaptered fic, do you give each chapter a title, or not?
Wow.  An easy question at last.  LOL.  Titles are usually one of the easier parts of the fic for me.  Now and then it takes a little thought.  But like puppies and kittens, they pretty much name themselves for me.  I always compose under some sort of working title if nothing else, just so I have something to name the file.  For example A Place In This Life is actually saved under “Damian” on my computer.  And like others have mentioned, story titles are an utter necessity.  Otherwise it would make finding something to read on an archive just about impossible.
Yes, I do chaptered fic.  And yes, I title my chapters.  I think titles make the chapters more attractive to readers, giving a sort of teaser effect.  It also serves as mnemonic device to help the readers and myself to keep track of what has already been read and what happened in this chapter or that.  I would be completely lost when I needed to double check something from a previous chapter for The Mutant Sue Virus or Muse on the Loose if I didn’t have some sort of chapter titles.  There’s just too much to scan through if the only hint I have is “Chapter 1” or “Chapter 31”.

I do try to keep my chapter naming consistent throughout a multi-chaptered fic.  It might be one-word titles, short phrases, or lyrics from a song.  One of the hardest parts of coming up with titles that I have found is accidentally naming more than one chapter the same thing when I use single word titles.  I did that once or twice for Muse on the Loose and it took some real skull sweat to come up with alternatives.   So each chapter gets a number and a name like “Chapter 1:  Where it all began.”

18 - Where do you get the most inspiration for your fics (aka "bunnies") from?

22 - Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?

23 - When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?

24 - Betaing - How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?

25 - Music - Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?

26 - What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to research for a fic?

27 - Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer?
