Greetings, flist.

It's been over a month since my last entry? Wow. I'm home tonight recovering, so I thought I'd pop in and say hello.

In the news -
*Work is exhausting me again. We are down staff and it's put a strain on me just when I felt like I needed a break.
But on the positive side, I'm now a member of The Velvet Onion. I'm not posting a lot there right now, but it is nice to feel like I belong to something again. I miss the snapecasters, and I'm sure we will produce something again at some point though.

*I had a birthday on the 28th of April and it was delightful. I bought myself a KitchenAid Pro (7 Quart) and used it to whip up treats for my friends. We had a small "tea party" at my place with a few friends and I got to introduce them to the delights of meringues and Pimm's Cups. T-Rex took me out the night before for fondue and fancy cocktails. He's wonderful.

*I had a sort of dissertation "near death experience" two weeks ago. I was intending to sign up for a week long course on Structural Equation Modeling. But I panicked when revising for stats and felt I couldn't prepare adequately. So I gave my data set a good hard looking over and emailed my committee to ask them if I could do something else with the data (and would it be enough to qualify for a dissertation). The methodologist on my committee emailed back and said after much thought she had to back out from being on my committee. GAAAASP!!!! There was frantic phone calling and emailing, and thankfully within a few days I had a full committee again. But it was close calls, I tell you. I've given myself a deadline of July 15th to write the statistics (method) chapter and rewrite my first chapter. I think I'll be ok. But first I need to not have so much work (see first point!).

*Nymphadora (who seems to be causing trouble climbing a forbidden shelf as I type this) has stabilised. Her liver values came back from the lab slightly improved. So for now, at least, it seems changing to a renal diet has helped her health. From her high energy level, you would NOT know she had renal disease.

That's it for the update. I'm too tired for cleverness. But I leave you with a smattering of photos (clickable thumbnails). Oh, and I am not going to Misti-Con. But I look forward to reading all about it and seeing the pictures from friends. So have fun, those who do go!
