GIMP 2.6.6

Has anyone else run into problems running GIMP 2.6.6 on Windows Vista? I downloaded this version today and now GIMP locks up on me within a couple of minutes of working on an icon. I'm not getting an error message, it just stops responding and I have to manually end the program ( Read more... )

I have my brushes in my personal gimp folder and that didn't get deleted last time I uninstalled 2.6.4. But just in case - do what you said: save them somewhere else, uninstall, reinstall, and put them back in.
My 2.6.6 works in Vista though.

Hmmmm, yours works? I've had issues with GIMP on Vista in the past but never this bad. I can't keep the darn thing running for more than a couple of minutes. I guess my only option is to blow that bad boy away and start fresh with a version I know works. ;-)

Ah, yes. Vista and all it's woes. I was having so many problems with it, including having to wait 15 minutes for GIMP to load, that I rolled back to XP when I found out that I could.

Backing up your files would be smart, regardless of whether or not uninstalling 2.6.6 removes them. I'm not sure if it will, but better safe than sorry.

Ugh, I really hate Vista. All of the problems are so annoying. I NEVER had problems with XP. :-)

I've never had to wait that long for GIMP to load but I have had different issues with different versions of GIMP running on Vista. This is the worst it's ever been though. I can only keep the program running for a few minutes before it locks up.

I'll definitely need to have back up copies of my files before I uninstall. Thanks!

I was having the same problem. I recently installed GIMP 2.6.6 because my laptop crashed and my hard drive had to be replaced. I looked through the net and found: http://www.flickr.com/groups/gimpusers/discuss/72157615774923995/

I deleted the .gimp-2.6 folder and restarted GIMP. It's working for me.
Hope it helps!
