Have I mentioned my love of Ben Folds before? I can't remember...

I've posted about the NYC based improv group Improv Everywhere before and I am posting about them again because the insane geniuses behind it teamed up with Ben Folds at the two closing dates of his current mini-tour (couldn't bring that to Chicago, huh Ben) to punk the audience. I think it's a sign of true fan love when you find yourself wishing with every fiber of your being that you were there when Ben tried to trick everybody into believing he was going to play a note that could cause you to crap your pants. Hey, at least I would've gotten to see him play first. Also, I think the guy playing 'Imposter Ben' looks more like the lead singer for Death Cab For Cutie... just click on the link!

Also of note, I had a good day at work today! It was real quiet because my cube neighbor had already left for Thanksgiving vacation, cadette and I swapped a few emails but the great thing is what's going on with the Toys for Tots Silent Auction. Around Halloween time I won a PSP Entertainment Pack from a local radio station. I do not play video games, and it's not from a lack of trying on my part. My brother had every popular video game and corresponding system in the house starting with the table-top mini arcade versions on through Nintendo's GameCube. I took a crack at all of them but I just plain suck at it, so it didn't take as a hobby. I get this PSP thing and it sits on my floor for a week or so until I get the bright idea to take it to work and dump it in the Toys for Tots donation bin. After discussing the feasibility of this with my department's admin and the dude who coordinates the TFT drive every year, they decide to a) let me donate it and provide me with a receipt of said donation (which they usually don't do) and b) put it in the silent auction that's happening in the cafeteria. Apparently TFT is really trying to raise cold hard cash this year in addition to toy donations because people tend to buy for kids aged 8 and under, meaning it's usually slim pickings for everybody else. There's some pretty good stuff in this auction too; a spa day, a paid day off of work, a ski trip, the head chef in the cafeteria will come to your home and cook you and your family dinner! Crazy! Today I went up to the cafeteria for a sandwich and to check on how my PSP (which retails for $249.99, btw) is doing and the bidding is up to $125! Holy crap! That's about $105 more for TFT than I would have spent picking out two toys at my local Wal Mart. I was REALLY happy when I saw that, but then I was like "We can't get it up to $150?! You people are a bunch of cheap bastards!" Heh.

Lastly, I have taped the AMAs. Nothing like skimming through an old fashioned televised "car crash" before bed...
