Giles and Buffy have had a secret relationship for years. This is my personal theory, expressed so aptly in the brilliant fics below.
My first rec, Glimmergirl's Palimpsest, is one of the most beautifully written B/G stories ever. This is a must-read, regardless of how you feel about seeing these two characters in a relationship.
My second, Anthenae's When It Alteration Finds, has Giles and Dawn together, with B/G overtones. Although I normally wouldn’t choose something involving a G/D pairing, it’s a poignant story that takes place 10 years in the future (which helps make it much less of an icky thing, really).
