????????? PTA and POODLES ?????????

If ten years ago you had asked me to give you a list of things I would NOT be doing there's a high probability it would include 1. living in the suburbs of Dallas 2. being a member of a PTA board and, 3. owning a toy poodle. Even now it seems out of character for me but, what can I say, alas, all these things are true and, while it has its ups and downs, it's not as bad as I would have predicted. Granted, I still wear completely inappropriate things to PTA meetings and hum "Harper Valley PTA" in the back of my head, but oh well.

Wanna hear "Harper Valley PTA"? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOZPBUu7Fro&feature=related

So, here I am, living right on the edge of Frisco and Little Elm, just draw a triangle between Dallas, Ft. Worth, and Denton, find the middle, that's us, by the lake but not right on it ; ). It's not awful, I can ride a bike to the lake, or walk if I cut through yards or don't take the kids and there's lots to do when I find the time and $ to do it, and heck, free babysitting if I'm willing to drive 40 minutes. So I get by here, and garden on my acre lot, pissing off the P.O.A . but not technically breaking the rules.

The PTA, well, they needed a Volunteer Chair, that makes me the B@*%!h who calls you (or in this modern age emails) and begs you to volunteer for such&such committee or such&such event. Do you? Alas no, but she keeps on calling people until someone says yes. I'm not sure I've read the book on PTA social and have no dirty gossip to share, but I think I get by ..... so far.

And POODLES, OMG poodles , Well Solace wanted a poodle, for months and months, asked every day. A TEACUP poodle specifically, one that was "NO big at all" in Solace speak. A BLACK teacup poodle, with purple and green bows in its hair. A girl poodle, who likes to play, and cuddle, and be pushed around in a baby stroller. And could we possibly, just maybe, find one who wanted to wear a purple tutu? October 13th is Solace's b-day and on the 14th we bought a poodle, from a family not a breeder, and maybe a large toy/small miniature when she grows up. (poodles are confusing). She will not be pushed around in a stroller and refuses to wear bows or a tutu (don't laugh, we've tried) but she is the smartest dog I've ever been around. I like her, surprising considering me and dogs, and she likes me (utterly shocking) we've named her Princess Anabelle at Solace's request. I feel like such a yuppie ;)

We also have a small cat now, this is something I would have suspected of myself ten years ago. She wandered into our yard Mid-September and after a month of looking we still couldn't find her owner. We called various area animals controls, they hadn't heard anything so now we have a four month old kitten. We call her Fuzzball, she's black with white splotches, and now we are a FAMILY, in the SUBURBS, with PETS. A little bit creepy, I know, but not as bad as I would have suspected.
