今日は日本で七夕祭りをありますよ :)
It’s a japanese festival that happens on July 7. It celebrates the meeting of two stars (Vega and Altair) in the sky. The legend says that the weaving princess Orihime fell in love with Hikoboshi the herdsman, and they got married shortly after. But because of their love for each other, they forgot about their obligations. Orihime stopped weaving for the king the beautiful cloths she used to, and Hikoboshi’s cows strayed all over heaven. As a punishment, the king separated them and forbade them to meet. But Orihime cried and cried, and moved by her tears her father said that if they completed their tasks properly, they could meet at the seventh day of the seventh month.
At the Tanabata Matsuri (Tanabata = “Evening of the seventh” and Matsuri = “Festival”), people dress up in beautiful yukatas, dance, sing and organize a fair. They also ornate the streets with colorful origami figures and paper chains that rattle with the wind. And they write their wishes on pieces of paper, called tanzaku, then tie the tanzaku on bamboo trees, that later are burnt. Through the smoke, people’s wishes go to heaven, where Orihime and Hikoboshi, reunited, can make them come true.
