this weekend was Aid and so I saw my family on both saturday and sunday.
i went to cretiel on saturday morning and got to see my cousins, my aunt and my great aunt who lives in Orange but is here in Paris for a few weeks. and i got fed goooooood arab food! then i went to my cousins and did laundry and dried it and watched desperate housewives and passed out. then on sunday I went back, ate more arab food, which was delicious, then i visited some more, then went home. Met up with one of the boys i used to date here and we explored my quartier and that was alot of fun. I ended up missing the birthday party for our advisor and one of the other grad students and i feel like a major schmuck for doing so, but oh well.
also, while running around like this, i also got the cold of death from Ryn (thanks dear!) but now i am 90 percent better. long-john under the pants is key for not getting cold. you all can call me a pussy but think about it. my people (both sets) come for DESERTS. we're camel jockeys for chrissakes, not eskimoes!
this morning i got up early and had my carte de sejour appt and that was fun. in the not really sense of the word. then i got incredibly turned around in the metro, wasted time, got my acct set up, and am now going to get a fabulous shawarma, un sandwhiche turque, gyro, or whathaveyou from the hott tunisian guy down the street. today the grad students register for classes, so i will leave you with my class list, ciao!
AUP (classes in english)
Social Methodology
Philosophical Foundations of IR
Theories of IR
ICP (classes in french, everytime i think of ICP i think of insane clown posse.)
Problemes dafrique contemporaine
Droits et diplomatie: reglementation des conflits
Also, what i am most excited about is the fact that i can audit a class. I am going to audit the politcis of the maghreb class, but i can only go on friday mornings, no biggie and i am so excited. yay for arab politics. the best thing is that i have officially no classes on mondays or fridays. yaaay!
boussa kbira!
boys,
