the weekend

ok. so now i suppose i'll tell ya'll a little bit more about my weekend, aside from my speedy dream.

friday: call in sick at 10 am *cough cough* so i can catch my flight at noon. i left a little late, but i was still able to check in 30 min before my plane departed. it's a nice flight, i sit next to a san diegan and we talk about her vegan (YES. vegan) son and how emaciated he is (she was holding a vegetarian magazine... so she's going to try to cook some nutritious vegan stuff for him), about her daughter, about her job... blah blah blah. so i get to san diego, and i notice my bag isn't on the conveyer belt. i go ask the baggage claim people, and they tell me that 30 minutes is the cut-off time. so my bag is most likely on the next flight, she said. bleh :p fine. so misha picks me up, we go get some mexican food (i STILL think that guadalajara is better than the mexican food in san diego), go back to the airport to pick up my bag, and head home. for dinner, mike made this FABULOUS beef dish. my goodness it was so good. wow can that boy cook... and it's a pretty simple dish too!! wow... i really don't know where he gets his cooking ideas... he really is a genius in the kitchen :)

saturday: meet up with one of our friends from davis (she's in town for the conference. she and her husband just bought a house!! congrats!!!) have lunch at the spicy thai restaurant. hang out, walk around la jolla for a bit, and go to gordon biersch for some beer tasting :) beth and i shared the taster's 6, which was six 5 oz samples of their most popular beers, while mike had a red trolley. those 5 oz glasses made me feel like a heavy weight :) (since 3 of those would be about the same as a pint) so i got nice and giggly enubriated :) drop off beth, head home.

sunday: mike honey bunny had to teach a class for the princeton review. so while he did this, i played housewife and cleaned... i broke his "closet" in the process though :T afterwards, we go to a little island off of the coast of san diego called coronado island... it's so cute and quaint :) there are so many nice restaurants there that we decided to park the car and walk around to see what was good, when we stumbled upon this fantastically romantic french place. it was a house that was later converted into a restaurant... and it had $25 prixe fixe menus (the early bird dinner before 6pm, with 3 course meals) perfect!!! the food was fabulous (especially since it was so affordable). that was the best french onion soup ever, the duck was wonderful, mike's beef bourginieonieous thingy was delectable, and dessert was amazing. after dinner, we wanted to go see a movie, so head over to see what time "meet the fockers" was playing. at the neighboring trader joe's, we spotted carrie and ross! yay!!! so we ditch the movie idea and head over to ross's for some champagne and some grand theft auto san adreas and grand turismo 3 fun :) gets late, go home.

monday: get to the library to get some work done. after our sushi dinner, we rent a movie (anchorman... unfortunately, this movie sucks. i do not recommend getting this movie :p) and buy a fire log for a romantic evening with a lame-ass movie. ah well. less concentration on the movie, more concentration on cuddling next to a cozy fire :) gets late, go sleep

tuesday: get up at 5 am for my 630 am flight. dammit. arrive in sac at 815, finally get to my car at 850. drive to work.
