Late last week, I threw a temper tantrum about the state of bread at my grocery store-I couldn’t find anything whole grain, no cellulose, no high fructose corn syrup. It didn’t matter that I could go somewhere else and find something that met those standards, I was just ticked, because all of a sudden that seemed like such a small order for a loaf of bread from any grocery store.
So I stomped home, found a recipe, and yesterday I made (non-dessert, like banana) bread for the first time in my life. It is delicious, and I really love baking so the process was very satisfying-and also I started my period several days earlier than expected, which I suppose puts the entire temper tantrum and obsessive focus on what the fuck into perspective.
Yes yes I know-great story, Giddy, can you pass me another scarf. *g* /bandom
The point is that now I’m not pissed off about bread anymore! Also I have whole wheat, flax seed, sunflower seed, and honey deliciousness waiting for me at home. I also made an absolutely beautiful chicken soup. Most domestic. I love Sundays.
Anyway, it was a generally excellent weekend. On Friday night, I went up to
misspamela’s to hang out with her and her excellent guest
Eleanor_lavish, who I hardly ever see and it was great to have her in our neck of the woods! Also so great just to sit around the kitchen table and drink and talk with those ladies, who have fabulous opinions and delightful ways of expressing them.
Then on Saturday,
janet_carter joined us for more eating and drinking and talking, plus we watched adorable things ranging from Chris Evans in movies to MissP’s kids and the carnival they created for our amusement-toddler Project Runway and a Shel Silverstein poetry reading competition being among the highlights. It was a great end to a rough week and just, I love fangirls. In case anyone was wondering if I’d stopped that, or anything; nope, thinking fangirls are amazing is still on.
And now I am back to being slumped over my desk, with bonus wicked cramps, bloating, and an hour to go before I can pop another painkiller. But hey, 1.5 hours of the work week down! Only…43.5 to go! \o?
