with a public post, no less! HI! i am still internet-less at home, so i'm around approximately rarely to never, but i've found myself kind of enjoying it most of the time.
made the drive from south florida to charleston today to see my parents and sisters for memorial day weekend, and am currently lounging with my feet up whilst surrounded by little, fluffy dogs. I EVEN HAVE SWEET TEA FROM SONIC OMG. this is a big deal, okay, since the nearest sonic to my new digs in fl is 30 miles away. anyway, did the drive in just under nine hours, and i am ridiculously tired. hopefully baby girl will let me sleep tonight since she's been kicking along with my music all day - surely that will have tired her out?
so, since it's still on my mind, and because i'll have regular internet access through monday, a question. well, first a little background. yesterday i saw my new obstetrician for the second time. i wasn't crazy about her the first time i met her - mostly due to her rather racist and classist (and totally unprovoked) diatribe at my first appointment last month. suffice to say that this obviously white, middle class doctor from the midwest has some issues with people of color and people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. in any case, yesterday was my second appointment, and the bf (who is not white) came with me to my scheduled check up. the doctor completely ignored him, didn't introduce herself, didn't say a single word to him, and proceeded to rush me through my appointment despite the fact that i had several questions for her, which were answered curtly at best.
my question is: should i call the office before my next appointment in two weeks' time and ask whether it would be possible to see another obstetrician from now on because i am uncomfortable with the rude, racist woman i've now seen twice? i don't see how i'm to trust someone with my health and that of my unborn baby if they can't be bothered to even speak to the father of said baby. on the other hand, is it possible that i'm overreacting? perhaps she's just rude, but given the fact that i already know she is prejudiced, i just don't think her behavior toward the bf is unrelated.
thoughts?
