in-law visit and other random tidbits

I have had some frustrations with things I've said being misinterpreted, which probably means that I didn't communicate them very clearly.  Email really is a horrible way to discuss anything other than 'who is bringing the coleslaw?'  And yes, Dante, if you comment that you just don't understand what I'm saying, I will hit you with a 2x4.  Or will try, anyway.

Visit is going well so far.  House is clean.  Fridge is full of yummy food.  Tummy is full of yummy scallops (F-in-law really knows how to cook seafood).  Everyone is getting along fine.

While I was working today, Adam and his parents planted the half dozen or so straggler shrubs that we didn't get around to planting in the past few weeks (madly cleaning house. . .)  On a whim, I decided today that the home of the big-ish dwarf lilac would look better without the lilac, and Adam agreed, so they moved him to the front yard (no, deer don't seem to have any interest in them).  He looks good there, and his former home will look much better with something that tops out at 2-3 feet rather than 5-6 feet.

Big call at work, which was supposed to happen two weeks ago, happens tomorrow.  I'm crossing my fingers that it goes well.  This project has been a major source of stress lately, and I will be SO glad when it's done.  Getting through this call will clear a lot of it from my plate, or at least make the rest of it much easier.

I'm excited about the Viking folks winning Crown.  I literally know nothing about them (other than the fact that they gave Dante an award during their first reign. . .), but I haven't heard anything against them, so they probably did a decent job the first time and clearly didn't burn down the kingdom.  I need to pull out my Pennsic and UoAtlantia class handouts and books and figure out some Viking stuff.  I have a couple of pieces of passable Viking clothes - I'm not sure that they're all from the same 'Viking' era, but what's a couple of centuries in the SCA?  *grin*  Viking sounds much more comfortable for Pennsic than Elizabethan (is anything worse for Pennsic???)   Is the St. Louis tunic a correct  underdress for Viking women?
