learned by losing

Apr 23, 2013 12:36

balanced on a line invisible to naked eyes
shivering in daylight
and warmed back over my the moon

i walked to you in a dream,
dizzy and defiant
and found you tying knots
in puppet strings

i asked why you ruined them
and you said your goal
was to set them free
but you never had the strength

once i told you to lie to me,
tell me i was your favorite toy
but something happened
on the way back home

on that same line the light wavered
and the sun and moon shifted
my skin got hot

for the first time in a lifetime
my eyes loved the light

i left you to your dolls
and promised to never look back
but looking back is the lesson
learned by losing sight

my poetry
