I rolled my eyes when she automatically took a step back and headed for the kitchen before calling me to come in. Great, no chance of her forgiving me for staking Angel. Not that I ever planned on forgiving myself, so it seemed fair ( ... )

I took another step back as she started flingin' dirt. Looked like B was bein' all kinds of unfair to me today, just like every other day. I'd never fucked Spike, but she probably thought I did. I mean, some other Faith probably did, but I didn't. Damn, everything was always so confusing.

When she apologized, I sighed and sank down onto the couch next to her. Both of us sitting side by side a couple minutes of awkward silence fell over the two of us. So much stuff left unsaid and still we both got eachother in a way that no one else would ever understand us.

"It's okay." I finally said after another minute or so. "Guess everyone's wound kinda tight lately." But especially you, yep, especially.

"Whoa. When'd you get fancy taste in liquor?" I asked her with a small smirk as she picked up a wicked expensive bottle of tequila. Guessed you could afford to be pickin' out the finest alcohol when you had all that bank to spread around. Had to wonder where she got it from though. Last time I was around she was barely scrapin' up enough for her crappy apartment over the diner. What'd she win the lottery or something? Had to be something legit, this was Buffy.

Following her up to the counter, I waited as she paid for the bottle, the cashier shoving it into a brown paper bag before we left. I stopped briefly on the sidewalk outside the liquor store and lit up a smoke as B unscrewed the top of her bottle.

"Ya know. We coulda just went to a bar. What'd we gonna do now? Just wander around?" I was game for that. Besides then maybe Buffy could drink and chill and think or do whatever she had to do and I could actually get some slaying done.

Taking the bottle from her I took one long swig and made a small face. Tequila. Serious yuck, but it got that warm feeling pumpin' through my veins and I thought I deserved a little fun after all the crap of the last few weeks.

As I handed the bottle back to her, she turned and met my eyes. Said her peace and then finally took the bottle back. Took me a minute to process as we both walked in silence. She was damn right I did what I had to do. Did she really think that I wanted to dust Angel? She'd have to be crazy to buy that one.

"Don't worry." I said with an instigating smirk on my face. "Sure I'll manage to screw something up again real soon so you can go back to hating me." She was givin' me that serious look but I could see the small crack of a smile. There was a sense of humor in there somewhere. Man, she had really changed over the years.
