Royal blue butterfly bustle gown

Jun 20, 2010 01:13

Since I wasn't able to spend time on the internet, I've used my time to sew. So another project was started and finished. As I'm still trying to de-stash and I'm having a "blue period", I decided to use the royal blue butterfly brocade. My original plan was to make a natural form gown. This was my design:

But I'm not to sure natural form suits me. So to play it safe I decided to make a bustle gown instead. Lately I'm really loving the parisian skirt, so I made that one again. The aprons are made of butterfly brocade, everything else of black satin (also stash fabric). To go with it I made a corset of butterfly brocade. I will wear it with a black taffeta ballgown bodice which I made years ago. I just added more trim to it :D.

The peacock lace I added to the sleeves:

Side and back view. I've added a small blue ruffle to the side panel to brake up all the black. And I obviously did not put the bustle on the dummy, so the back view is a bit caved in.

And a teardrop fascinator I made to go with it:
