Peacock gown

Jun 20, 2010 00:28

I had 15 yards of blue/green peacock taffeta in my stash which is really wanted to use. My original plan was to make a robe a la francaise. But since they are more "difficult"to wear (it's just no always that easy to wear panniers when visiting a castle for pictures), I decided to make robe a l'anglaise instead. And I'm really glad I did. I love the way the fabric looks, especially when taken up like a polonaise (of which I unfortunately did not take pictures). Although the gown is finished, I'm still pondering about trims. At the moment it is quite plainly trimmed. Should I add more? I do admit I like the clean look however. And my original plan was to use died peacockfeathers (hence the name), but I didn't know how to incorperate them. I might just wear them in my hair. As we are leaving on holiday next week I will not have time to make a hat or something else. Well, I'll figure out what to do. Here are some pictures.
