Last month, I injured a hand while out sledding (ran over it with the sled). At its worst, you'd have thought a purple golf ball was atop my hand. Didn't really hurt, though, and it's fine now. Mostly because of the swelling, it kept me from knitting for about ten days.
Today, I think I sprained my left ankle. I have no clue how. My foot felt a little odd while I was walking around today, but it didn't exactly hurt. It just felt slightly weird. That feeling increased not long ago, and I took off my sock to find a significantly swollen ankle. It's iced and elevated at the moment. I'm guessing it's a sprain, but I'm not sure.
Hmmm, I think I know where I can find a compression bandage! The one I used for my hand last month should suit my ankle too. I'll see how it feels tomorrow. I doubt I'll be doing much walking then, but I expect it will be good enough to go on with in a few days.
I swear, I'm not usually this injury-prone.
When I saw how horrid my hand looked after the accident, I grabbed my camera and took a few shots. (Right before I went to the emergency room, since I didn't know if I'd broken a bone.) My hand ended up looking much worse than you see in these pics, but it got wrapped in a bandage before I could take new photos. It was dark purple and much more swollen than you see here. The shots below were taken about half an hour after the injury occurred.
