Hee, this is great. I laughed out loud more than once. ^_^
James passed out on the carpet reminded me of similar incidents, back in the day, when friends/acquaintances would pass out during the keg parties that my old roommate hosted. It was a little mean of me, but on a couple of occasions I insisted on dragging the unconscious individual outside, so when they lost bladder control (which I considered inevitable) I wouldn't have to clean it up. Hey, it was summer, they weren't going to freeze! But I remember the bump-bump-bump of one guy's head along the floor as we towed him out the door by his legs... Heehee, I guess that was more than a little mean. But I didn't have to scrub the rug after, and that's what counts, right? Right.
Zephyr really is a beautiful toddler, unlike the typical pudding tot. But when you said, "...amazing eyes, like fresh wee in a white porcelain toilet bowl" that was the first point where I barked laughter. The cats were alarmed. ^_^
"James likes his candy from little girls. For shame James, for shame."
Oh my... and he's a serial candy thief as well.
Rae's vomit looks eerily like un-chewed chips (or crisps, as you would say). I imagine that would hurt coming back up.
"I admit that ‘Cats-Bottom Pillage’ has an interesting ring to it..." This is the second point where I lost it. I am sure my neighbor was alarmed, this time. The shared wall is thin and I am generally the quieter sort of lunatic.
The death sequence is great, I've never seen a death in Sims 3 before. I really like the picture of Rae and Gizor's ghost, the one with the caption, "It's about your dad."
That sucks about your missing urn... Hmm. *turns to old friend, Google* Did you check your family inventory? Or it might have gone to the graveyard. (Suggested here.) I hope it turns up!
I didn't realize they had a family inventory. "In The Sims 3, each household has a family inventory. It can be accessed in buy mode by clicking the icon that looks like a cardboard box. When moving, if the player decides to 'pack furniture' from their previous house, the furniture appears in the family inventory. It's also used to store items that cannot be stored in the regular Sim's inventory." (Courtesy of the The Sims Wiki.) You probably knew about it, since you've moved house several times. I wonder though if Gizor's ashes would have gone there, since if I remember right, he wasn't a household member. His own house might be another place to check.
It's odd that your males have aged so fast; Gizor was supposed to be about the same age as Rae and he's already dust. I do not understand the passage of time in Sims 3.
Thank you. Read your comment with pleasure and then rushed off to try your suggestions before replying.
I hadn't checked the family inventory. To be honest, I'd forgotten all about it. Unfortunately, the urn wasn't in there (something else was though but I won't tell you about that yet). Thank you so much for that link, you've solved the problem. The urn was found in the mausoleum in the graveyard.
That was my first death sequence. Not sure how happy I was when he started pleading for his life. I did think he might have lived longer, after all he was made an elder prematurely through my error. I was pleased with EAxis there, that Sims colours change when viewed through a ghost. (Did that make sense?)
I also don't really understand the aging. Why Clifford is an elder when James is not. Rico, yes, I made the inn in another neighbourhood and was pratting about with him there, before extracting him and the inn to plonk into this one. I expected him to be older. I can only assume that whatever Clifford was doing to make him disapear from the game, prematurely aged him. Clifford was just not around. I checked all through the map for him. I think that 'story progression' probably has some major quirks.
Thanks again for your comment and for your help :D
I understand what you mean about the colors. Looking through a ghost is seeing into a black-and-white world, like an old TV show. They must see the whole world like that, all muted.
The aging quirks must be hard on people who like being in control. (Or is there a way to turn it off? I have a vague memory of that, but I could be making it up. Coffee, I need coffee.)
I believe that I can turn the story progression off. I haven't tried it though. I seem to recall, at one stage (six months ago probably), that there were a lot of posts about it being 'borked' and that installing Awesome Mod fixed it. Might go and see what I can read up about it now...

Didn't mean to write you a novel! ^_^
