I was feeling pretty good about stepping on the scale this week... I made pretty good choices (they didn't always make me happy, but I made them), and I ended up loosing over 2% of my weight in one week! Crazy times. And then they posted a half way mark summary and I am in third place for females - losing just over 5% of my total weight so far! Yay for stick-to-it-ive-ness - no crazy fad dieting, and going slowly! I have rarely felt hungry, only grumpy about food when I am surrounded by skinny people eating whatever they want or feeling sorry for myself (which is stupid, I am not starving, and have made myself the size I am anyway). So hopefully I will use this as a catalyst and keep the momentum going!
Also - I am noticing that things I liked before are not as tasty as they were. For example, I had cookies (golden oreos) tonight after dinner. A treat, no doubt. I liked the cookie, and the frosting center, but now that I have finished, my stomach is upset. I could have easily called it a night after dinner. I think it may be time to start implementing a little more strictness on desserts (a downfall of mine). I have been good about limiting amounts, but not necessarily how much per day. What about trying to implement a 'treat' a day trial period? I think I will start tomorrow and see how it goes. Working on things a little at a time seems to be taking effect, so I think this is a good next step.
I also signed up to be part of a community supportive agriculture program in my neighborhood. A way to be supportive of local farming, eat healthier and add more variety to my diet. I got my first box today and have the goal to use all of the ingredients in the box each week! We had steamed broccoli tonight as a part of dinner. Check out my first 'harvest':
The only item in the box that I have never cooked before is the collard greens. Any recipes would be welcome!
Have a great week everybody!
