... to post on my journal regularly now, that is.
I ought to explain at this point that I have locked all my old posts because I hated the state (or rant block, in the main) that my LJ had become. I thought about starting a new one but juggling two didn't sound all that attractive so I eventually decided to tidy this one. I've also had a fiddle with my flist so that the motorsport people don't get spammed with figure skating stuff (which I've got into via
walover165's fics, and hopefully will be a permanent interest), and vice versa. Apart from when a post is going to mention both, like this one, or isn't locked - I've taken the complete flock off my journal, at least for the moment.
On the subject of today's race, I'm not overly disappointed with Seb being third, especially given his problems - and apparently RBR actually called him into retire, and he decided to keep going - but it has started me worrying about RBR's reliability again. I've managed to get my 'off-switch' for between the races back now, though, so I'll definitely be employing that between now and Thursday.
On a more positive F1-related note, I'm still all *gg* about Paul being faster than Tonio on Friday. He was in the BBC radio commentary box for qualifying and the race, too, so I have that to look forward to listening to, because I watched the TV as usual and recorded the radio commentary. I don't normally like Legard, but he mentioned Tonio being under pressure because of Paul in qualifying, and again during the race, so that made me smile because it shows it's not just me that thinks that Paul is making good use of the opportunity he's been given.
I managed to get over 650 words written this evening, and that just reinforced my belief that a new fandom was exactly what I need, writing-wise. Hopefully this time I'll be able to stick with this particular idea until I have a finished fic, because I've been jumping around between a lot of bunnies over the last few days. But I am finally excited about writing again, which is good. Obviously I'm not as confident about the characterisation with skating fic as I was with F1 characterisation, but then again I've only been in the skating fandom for a couple of weeks so I'm sure I'll get there with time.
I've been watching the post-Election events with keen interest, but I don't really want to talk about my views, because from what I've seen on my flist, they'd probably be fairly unpopular, and I don't come on LJ to argue about politics. But I thought I should at least mention it in passing because I do care.
I think this is my longest LJ post for a long time that doesn't contain a rant, which I'm quite proud of, and I will try to post on here a bit more often now. I've kept saying I will but I never have, but I will really try now.
