Due to the thunderstorms, low cloud ceilings and whatnot I took a not so scenic, hour and a half long, bad midway ride yesterday afternoon. In short, we tried to land, the pilot decided we couldn't so we flew back to Winnipeg.
Was I pissed?
You had better believe it.
When we got back, they told us there would be 2 flights this afternoon to accomodated all the people who were sitting on standby because there haven't been any planes able to land since Sunday. When I woke up this morning, the fog was so thick, I didn't figure any planes would take off, let alone land, so I didn't try for standby at 6am. Figuring on the afternoon double flight, I showed up at quarter after one figuring I would get on one. Turns out I was fourth in line and there was no second flight. I had a moderate to severe meltdown, involving tears for nearly a full hour and no notion on how the hell I was going to get home.
In the end, there was only one seat available standby, but I got it because the three in front of me were a mother with two kids. I felt badly, I know they've been trying to get back since Sunday, but on the other hand I am so glad to get home. I really can't afford to miss another day of work, and the principal was pissed with me as it was.
Other than the shitty ending, I had a good weekend out. I went shopping, voted, saw a movie, made dumplings with my aunt, changed my driver's licence, had a chiropractor appointment, reinvested my GICs and went for a facial and a soak in the mineral pool. I'm exhausted, but I did lots of good stuff. I can't wait to sleep in my own bed!
The cats are lonely and there is a moderate amount of destruction in my house. Olivia seems put out with me. She didn't eat much this weekend and seems skinny. I hope she perks up a bit in the next couple days.
I never want to leave home again!
