zestien - Destruction

[A] - 1447 Mitchell Rd.

[Holland is slowly, slowly waking up amidst rubble.  Once he gets past the disorientation of not waking in bed, of not feeling rested and realizing he'd passed out . . . he's going to look for others.  Canada, he knew, was droned, and he feared the worst for her, unable to really defend herself.  He knew Hilda was much more ( Read more... )

[She'd been awake when it happened, woken by being back to herself instead of a drone. Instead of panicking, she starts to take inventory of things, looking for her bear, for her housemates. Hearing Holland, she makes her way towards him.]

Nederland! Where's Hilda?

[Hilda isn't that far off, in her Mayfield pajamas, digging through rubble with her bare hands. Her Pokeballs have to be somewhere in this mess, they have to be.]

[Canada's voice. . . it definitely was her voice, and he knew it was her because she'd called him Nederland. He gets up immediately to find where she's coming from; he sits right on the rubble from relief.]

I haven't-

[Coughing more, ugh.]

Not yet, I don't know.

And Kumarie! I don't know where she is, either! [Canada turns around where she is, looking over things, then swears under her breath as she looks back at him.]

Are you hurt?

[The exertion in the smoky air causes a loud coughing fit, and she pauses in her panicked search to try and get air back into her lungs. It's enough time for her to register that Holland and Canada are nearby and turn to try and see where they are, at least.]

Neen, neen.

[No, he's fine. When he hears Hilda, he'll get up and look for her . . . not hesitating to take Canada by the hand and tug her along. ]

Hilda . . . we're right here.

[Certainly not pulling her hand away, she gives his a squeeze and follows close along with him, hurrying to get to Hilda.]

Hilda, are you alright?

You're both okay...

[She looks relieved, but as soon as Canada asks all the worry of a mother hen over her chicks returns to her face.]

I can't find my Pokemon.

Mm, I can't find Poffertje, and the bear seems gone too.

[He'll set a hand that he hopes is comforting on Hilda's shoulder before helping her up.]

[There's a bit of a hesitation from Canada before she gives a firm nod, acting more confident than she is.]

The town took them to keep them safe, I'm sure of it. They'll be fine.

[Hilda nods slowly, forcing herself to believe that. No, it has to be that. If she survived they would have definitely been fine if the town hadn't taken them again.]

Alright. I'm sure that's what happened.

[She looks around properly now--she hasn't had a real chance to survey the damage, too focused on her missing Pokemon before.]

...Everything's gone.

Seems so. . .

I wonder though.

[And this is when it's good to have him around, somebody detail oriented, somebody who likes to think steps ahead of others and is good at strategy. He'll start looking for where the basement should be, and when he finds the stairs mostly intact, he gestures the others over.]

We have some things, at least.

[Canada takes a moment to pat Hilda's back reassuringly before going over to the stairs, swallowing thickly. The thing about Mayfield was, no matter how unusual and frightening it was, it wasn't the war she'd been fighting at home. It wasn't the bodies and the flattened buildings and that never-ending uncertainty about where your allies were, and how they were holding up. But now it is, and that's verging on devastating for her, though she's doing her best to turn that into cool resolve instead.]

That's good. It's in our best interests to find others, see who's organizing anything, though. People may need our help.

[Hilda latches onto Canada's words--helping other people. She can do that. Or she'll try.]

I'm sure a lot of people need help after this.

[He really didn't like the idea of exploring a ruined Mayfield with Canada and Hilda. Even though it seemed a little old-fashioned, he'll speak up.]

I think you both should stay here.

I'm of more help when I'm mobile.

[And that's not something Holland can rightfully deny, she knows, which is why she looks at him so stubbornly when she says it.]
