You ever have one of those dreams.....
Where you're standing in front of the whole student body naked and it's quite embarrassing?
Have you ever had a dream about doing your job and messing up to the point where you're so embarrassed that you didn't know what to do?
Last night I had my first massage therapy related dream. My client happened to be the significant other of one of your instructors. He's old, doesn't move very well, just screams frail all over. Well I was massaging him and had completed my treatment when he was getting up from the table and he falls off and hits his head hard on the floor.
As a side note, I had just completed the first half of my CPR training on Saturday.
I rush over to him already imagining that someone as fragile as him wouldn't be doing too well after a fall. So I check....he's not breathing. At this point I already feel that he died falling off my table. I go right into the steps that we just learned. I point out to someone to call 911 and get a defribillator. No pulse, not breathing, I start CPR. Paramedics arrive and take over, by this point I'm already in tears because I know he's dead and I just started my massaging career. People come by and console me and in the background I can see the gurney being wheeled by with his body already zipped up in the black bag.
This was quite the cruel dream to have just as I'm graduating. I'm sure whatever cosmos thingy that may have some universe controls is pissing in their pants laughing about this.
Actually I find it quite amusing a few hours later, but when I get up, I did not feel all to well.
