My immersion heater has blown; it only lasted eighteen months, and I had
an awful time of it finding a plumber last time round.
It occurs to me that maybe, after all, I might try replacing it myself. It
doesn't look too difficult, though once one has bought the rubber hose, the big octagonal spanner and the PTFE tape then spent all evening fighting with things that look easy on the Internet but in reality turn out to be both difficult and prone to emptying a hundred litres of water into one's house one might as well have called in the plumber anyway.
None of you happen to have any experience of this kind of thing that you'd be willing to share do you? I could offer pizza, curry or
a meal at the Anchor later this month to anyone who can sort this out before the weekend.
In the meantime, I fear I'll be spending every spare moment tomorrow ringing around plumbers. Again.
(Note to self: 15A circuit, looks like it could take an element up to 34-35" long; probably not a 36".)
