I'm actually too lazy to type a report on what happened so it's mostly going to be the few pictures I took with my phone. I didn't bring a universal adapter with me so I couldn't charge my laptop/phone much (borrowed my roommate's), which is why I didn't take much photos as well. Afraid the phone battery will run out.
My flight was on Thursday, about 3pm-ish. Went to Taiwan first, in transit for a few hours then off to LAX. The airport in Taipei was pretty nice. Reading corner, e-library, lotsa food places, etc. In comparison, the LA International Airport was... boring. The flight took forever, and if there's anything I learnt from taking such long flights, it's always pick the aisle seat. -_-; The trouble I had with sitting in between an old lady and the window... Especially when I'm the type who just can't sleep in moving things. The food they served on the plane was pretty decent though, so it's not all a torture.
But enough rambling about the flight (and I'm not going to ramble about the conference). Let there be pics.
I stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites, Corona East/Riverside:
http://hamptoninn.hilton.com/en/hp/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=RALRWHX It's probably a conference rate because it's really cheap: $65 for a two queen bed room. Anyway, these are the pictures taken just outside the hotel (I forgot to take photos of the room itself).
As you can see, there's a river outside. And ducks.
This is how the hotel looks like from the outside.
Due to the very short time I had there (two out of three days was spent in the conference), I only had time to visit one area in detail. So, I visited downtown Riverside where the historic Mission Inn is situated. Took some photos there too.
Inside the Mission Inn:
The stained glass windows are rather difficult to photograph. =/ They are very very pretty though, and can be found throughout the building. The guest rooms also have a very quaint, old-time feel to them and have a personality.
Still inside the Inn.
A very famous cathedral. Inside the Inn.
The oriental wing of the inn.
This is Mission Inn, view from across the street.
And the building right next to the Mission Inn, behind the Chinese thing is the public library.
Went to the old courthouse too.
One thing I must say though, the people in Riverside are very, very friendly. Not overly friendly in the IN YOUR BASE kinda way, but just generally... nice people. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and understanding..
gdi need to run off. shall cont later.
EDIT: Kay. Back. Anyway, the people! The taxi driver we hired for the few days we were there was extremely nice as well. He was always early, and so relaxed that we felt super relaxed in his taxi. If I have the time and resources, I don't mind going to Riverside again just for a relaxing holiday. \o\
aaand drama happened involving some dude from Vegas on the second night I was there, but that's kinda embarrassing so I'll just. not mention it.
