So I'm sitting here relaxing on the last night of spring break, 2010, enjoying a tasty beverage and reflecting on how life is going, while Dana Carvey's new comedy special is on in the backround. Break has been nice, it's really good to get away from campus every once in a while, away from the stress and some of the people. Away from the work and the responsibilities. Granted, there's stuff to be done at home too, but it's different than at school. No papers or homework assignments, no Norwich rumor mill, all that stuff goes away. Instead I have my job here, housework to be done, lawnwork. But the good thing abotu that is I get to work outside for most of those things, and with the weather the way it has been, that has been nothing but enjoyable. The only thing really attatching me to Norwich right now is worrying about the recruits. I hope they stay out of trouble for both their sakes and mine as well (I don't want to do the paperwork when I get back).
A word about 9-4-3 real quick if I may. These kids have made me extremely proud. They won platoon fo the semester this last semester, just like my platoon did out freshmen year. They earned it. They've been kicking ass and putting out since they got here, all for us and for them. They look fantastic, especially when compared to other platoons. They've done a fantastic job, and these kids are going to be the ;eaders of the Corps their Junior and Senior Years. I'm pretty sure 3rd Battalion's Command Sergeant Major, the Regimental CO, XO and a bunch of Battalion Commanders, numerous First Sergeants, Drill Sergeants and Staff Sergeant Cadre are going to come from this platoon, and with them more platoons will will be given the knowledge passed down from us to them and so on. I'm calling this right now, this is the platoon that will save the Norwich University Corps of Cadets.
I'm just glad I had a part of it. :)
It's really weird that the year is coming to a close already. Junior Ring is a mere 34 days away, and the end of the year is only a bit further from that. Rediculous.
What is more interesting is my date for Junior Ring, Training these kids has merited some special credit, and PVT. Ulrich (one of my females) has set up Fink and myself with her sister and her sisters best friend (respectively). Kelli is who will be walking down the Arc of Swords with me, and I'm pretty excited. She and I have been e-mailing each other, and she seems really cool, somebody who understands work and such, and being busy. And we seem to have similar interests and such, so I'm pretty sure it will be a really fun weekend. I'm looking forward to this. :D
It certainly will be a weekend to remember...or try to, based on the amount of alcohol consumption that may or may not take place that weekened, haha.
So it's back to school tomorrow, with my new Mac which will make it nice. I'm going to rack out now, for the last night in my bed until I come home for Greek Easter in a few weeks.
I'll keep trying to write more, I promise!
