Overheard at the FoL Sale..
I was standing at one of the tables and browsing, looking for hidden treasure in the piles of old, moldy, scary books. There was a woman beside me, she was a little bit more dressed up than most of us..pantsuit, heels. We were at one of the first tables in the 2nd room of books. I looked up when I heard someone stop at the table, thinking it was the sweetie. I happen to look up just in time to see a 2nd woman (who looked like a soccer mom) stop and give woman next to me a "drop dead" look. The 1st woman just says sweetly, "hello, you're looking well" and she walked off, looking like the cat who got the cream. A few seconds later, a man walks in the room and stands next to soccer mom. Their conversation went like this:
soccer mom: "I just saw your friend" (nasty tone with equally nasty look)
man: /sigh
soccer mom: "I didn't think she was smart enough to read."
man: /bigger sigh
I decided it was time for me to move before I saw something that would make me a witness for the prosecution.
