None of us ever, ever, ever believe this phrase when it's said to us...in fact, hearing this phrase can actually make us FURIOUS...but, time really does heal.

Time does heal, it just takes so damn long sometimes that it is easy to give up. It doesn't mean things don't get better or that there aren't days that are more difficult than others, and it doesn't mean that it isn't a contimuum on which we don't slide around. But I'll take the good where and when I can, ya know.

The first and I were together eleven years before I threw him out. The second and I have been together twenty, and I'm still inclined to keep him. (And yes, that should tell you about how many years "more than I want to think about" is.)
