I used to manage a gourmet candy store specializing in imported chocolate. During that time I did a lot of strange things, including writing a guide to interpret chocolate choices a'la Tarot and I rewrote Maslow's Hierarchy of needs out of my Psychology textbook to include chocolate.
It dawned on me tonight that my own hierarchy of needs includes My Darling Boyo, and if I took my revised edition and replaced the word chocolate with his name, that would be my own Maslow's Hierarchy Version 2.1 and I am not sure if I am amused or disconcerted.
In any case, here is the Version 2 as revised by me in the early 90's for my first major retail management position...

SELF ACTUALIZATION
To find peace in themselves, a person must be true to their own nature, their quest for chocolate, what they can be, what they must be.
ESTEEM
High evaluation of themselves and chocolate, self respect, desire for strength, achievement, reputation, prestige and chocolate.
BELONGINGNESS AND LOVE
Hunger for affectionate relationships and chocolate, keenly felt absence of friends and chocolate.
SAFETY
Security, stability, protection, chocolate, freedom from fear and loss of chocolate.
PHYSIOLOGICAL NEEDS
HOMEOSTASIS: The body’s effort to maintain in the blood normal levels of water, salt, sugar, protein, fat, calcium, oxygen, hydrogen-ions, temperature and chocolate.
APPETITE: The body’s specific appetite or partial hunger for a missing food element, particularly chocolate.
