Lol. Yesterday - gotta love it.
About 1 Yesterday, I get a phone call from Gareth "Dude, Can you come over after work, I need to talk to you about Sammy"
Yeah, no worries - meantime, I'm thinking "Is he suicidal? dead?" or any one of another thousand possibilities. Turns out Sammy's Holden Astra dropped dead about 45 kilometres out of town. Gareth wanted me to sort it out. So I delegated, and called Jeremy, one of my old school mates and we went and rescued Sammy's car.
Moral of the story - Hiring trailers is for suckers. We get there, and 9 out of the 10 lights on the trailer don't work. Jeremy (he's a mechanic) checked all the cables and connections and stuff. All looked okay. Surely, 9 out of the 10 globes wouldn't be blown... Yup.
Because the service station don't own the trailers, and it's outside working hours, we were forced to buy and change all the globes on the trailer. It was a bit of a setback and a lot of a laugh, mainly because of the convoluted system that is in place. Surely it would be easier to give the servo some autonomy for the maintenance - If it's a blown globe, replace it and the trailer company will fix the station up for it whenever.
But, once again, the mighty Australian built V8 Ford rescues another Holden from the side of the road. Blue Oval parochialism rides again!
(Yes, I am aware that Sammy's Astra is a Nissan Pulsar/Sunny with an identity crisis, but that doesn't fit my story anywhere near as well)
