A little slice of freedom...
Firstly, thank god it's the weekend because I needed the sleep in this morning XD It felt so good, words cannot describe.
It also marks the end of my first full week of work and, although it was ridiculously fast paced with crap loads of reading and report writing and fieldwork, it was also quite good. I'm enjoying work as much as work can be enjoyable. Everything is challenging and I have to keep on my toes just to keep up. I'm learning so much so quickly, I'm really thankful for the experience. For example yesterday I was collecting samples to test for ASS (Acid Sulfate Soils), and yes I had a good laugh in my head when the bosses told me about it because I am that childish, it also sets up for ridiculous lines in reports like "the ASS is too widespread" and when it gets to the poisonous gasses.... well, I don't need to give an example. But seriously, it's soil that turns into acid and poisonous gas when exposed to air. That's right, even dirt is trying to kill people. Also, training for everything has been very very crash course sort of learning. My boss likes to show me how to do it once and then leaves me in charge and drives off.... and then suddenly there are drillers looking at me like "So, boss... what's next?"
In other news, I can't remember if I've already posted this but I've found a room to rent and I bought a bed and a desk and a chair and they all arrived or got picked up today and I've spent.... roughly 6 hours putting them all together. It's pretty sweet and makes my little room feel a little more like it's mine and not just a room in someone else's house. Photos will come once I either figure out how to get bluetooth working on my computer or get a usb cable that'll connect to my stupid sony ericsson phone. Because apparently I did forget something important afterall =P Also tonight I'm having a bbq with my bosses and meeting their families XD;;;;; working in a small company is hilarious. My dad warned me not to let them hook me up with one of their daughters..... oh dad....
