Name: Witte, Andrew
Sex: Male
Age: 24
D.O.B.: December 24
Blood Type: B

Height: 5'8"
Weight: 145 lbs
Eyes: Green
Hair: Brown

Birthplace: San Diego, California
Nationality: Japanese-American

Family History: Mother; Reiko Ogawa-Witte, age 56, Japanese language lecturer at UC San Diego, emigrated from Japan in 1970. Diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago, now in remission.

Father; Daniel Witte, age 58, tenured professor of anthropology at the University of New Mexico. Parents are separated.

Fiance; Atsuko Ishikawa*, age 24, graduate student of oceanography at UC San Diego

Life History: The only child of a pair of teachers, Andrew's young life was spent largely alienated from one half of his culture, as his father wanted him to be raised wholly American. It was the argument about Andrew's education that partially drove a wedge between his parents and resulted in their separation. He definitely felt that it was his fault, no matter what arguments his parents had between themselves, and between that and the custody battle over him led to a diagnosis of depression when he was 14 and attending Central Catholic High School in San Diego. His mother's diagnosis with breast cancer shortly afterward didn't help matters, and it was then that he started to come up with the idea of another world. In the beginning, it was just stories and his imagination, a form of escapism that might not have been particularly healthy, but after it balanced out, it wasn't something that concerned anyone, and he even stopped writing them for a while after he turned 17. He proposed to his girlfriend at the time, Atsuko Ishikawa, when he was 19, and attending UC San Diego for elementary education. Both agreed to wait until after college to get married. The stresses of college leading up to graduation made him relapse into writing about his imaginary world, this time worse than before, to the point where he believed he was writing about himself and started responding almost exclusively to the name 'Ken Hidaka.' His grades started slipping, and afraid for her son's stability, Reiko pulled him out of classes when he was 22 and sent him through all manner of psychological testing and treatments.

It was after he started getting into physical fights--and nearly killing another mental patient--that Reiko and Daniel decided together to send him to Landel's Institute, realizing that their son's delusions had gone far beyond what they were able to handle without hospitalization--he was too much of a danger to himself and others.

Medical History: Broken leg at age 9, suffered while taking part in a junior soccer league, healed without complications. At 14, was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and treated with psychotherapy and fluoxetine (Prozac.) Fluoxetine treatment ended two years later. Diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type at age 23, placed on a regime of aripiprazole (Abilify) and lithium.

Current Status: While at first watched because of his history of violent behavior, Andrew seems overall to be rather calm. There have been a few instances of violent outbursts and paranoid beliefs involving other patients, however he seems to have not acted on them thus far. He also, though, hasn't improved much if at all over his time in hospitalization, and consistently refuses to take his medications.

Working Diagnosis: Schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type.

*Atsuko Ishikawa is the 'real life' persona of Yuriko Asakawa, the woman from episode 5 of Weiss Kreuz Kapitel.
