Still in the process of writing the modules for the upcoming Nature Interpretation course. I mean, the framework is already there. My boss made the Powerpoints with the general outline of what to say but never got around to actually writing everything down since all the knowledge was in her head already. Unfortunately, the GM wants everything written down. As in everything. No ad libbing during the training allowed. So yeah. I've essentially been writing chapters to a textbook these past few days. Just finished the one on marine mammals so working on the one for marine turtles now. Still have the "18 Fishes You'll Meet in El Nido", mangrove species, and Lagoons tour spiel to do. And they're all due by the 21st! Whoohoo! *brain melts*
But seriously. I like what I'm doing now. I like writing. I like being able to explain things to people. I like research. It's a challenge to continuously check that I'm not talking over people's heads. All in all, this is something I don't mind doing. But it doesn't stop my eyes from hurting from staring at the PC screen all day and wanting to bang my head on the desk in frustration.
I've found a short-term postgrad course I really want to take. Macquarie University in Australia offers a
Postgraduate Certificate and
Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Education. You get to take subjects like "Design of Environmental Education Programs", "Environmental Interpretation and Community Education", and "Ecotourism for Sustainable Development". The certificate takes 1 year of part-time study, while the diploma takes 2 years part-time/1 year full-time. Unfortunately, it's not a distance learning course. Haha. Sad. The closest thing I could find that I could take online was a graduate certificate in ecotourism offered by Charles Sturt (in Australia again). So there. No distance learning for me anytime soon. The subject matter of the UPOU course doesn't interest me that much so sayang din.
Hay.
