Wedding Stuff
Today I went and put down the deposit on Sharp Chapel so I got in a mild wedding planning mood.
Here's what I've done so far:
-booked ceremony location (Sharp, paid a deposit)
-booked reception location (Dresser, paid a deposit)
-booked caterer (paid a deposit)
-booked a photographer (paid a deposit)
-booked a DJ (paid a deposit)
-got Save the Dates (addressed lots of 'em)
Here's what I need to do in the next couple months:
-block rooms (at Doubletree?)
-make a website
-send Save the Dates (like in the next couple weeks)
-book transportation/valet service
-cake!
-order/make invitations
-order my dress (going shopping when my mom comes in late November)
-find an officiant (Nancy Eggen? Would that be weird? Does she even DO that?)
-meet with caterers and figure out details (rentals, linens, booze, menu, etc.)
-figure out menswear
-figure out bridesmaid dresses
-figure out dresses for junior bridesmaids
-find someone to videotape this shindig?
-book honeymoon (we'll be going in August, but I'll probably encourage Arlo to take care of that)
-engagement photos? Don't know if I wanna.
-look for a ring for Arlo (I think I just wanna wear mine as-is, don't know if I want a wedding band).
Here's what can wait til the last three months:
-send out invites
-finalize decor (simple, thinking picture frames with photos from family weddings, candles and simple flower arrangements in Arlo's great grandma's mason jars (maybe?) or plain glass vases. Dresser is pretty enough, it doesn't need a bunch of junk all over the place. Plus the linens will be nice themselves)
-finalize music w/DJ
-guestbook/thing
-book ceremony music (I think maybe I just want a pianist? Maybe ask Derek? Though I guess he'll be graduated?)
-figure out flowers. I want to use local flowers. There are plenty of pretty ones at the farmer's market. We'll see how that goes.
-a billion other things that'll come up
Colors are gonna be dark brown, green and some accent color. Haven't decided. Light purple? Who knows?
I don't think we'll do favors. They are kinda silly to me, I am not one to keep things like that and squirrel them away. Might do a homemade cookie buffet or something. I like baking, ya know. That could be fun.
